In a proactive effort to tackle a growing national concern, Brentford School for Girls (BSfG) is championing student safety by educating its pupils on the dangers of knife crime. The school recently hosted the acclaimed ‘No More Knives’ Tour, an initiative designed to empower young people to make positive and safe choices within their community.
The No More Knives Tour, run by The Message Trust, is a UK-wide initiative that uses creative, music-based programmes to inform, equip, and inspire young people to say no to carrying knives. In late 2025, the tour took action across west London, visiting high schools—including Brentford School for Girls—in November, featuring performances by the OTC band and Nxt Chaptr. The purpose of the tour is clear: to reach young people where it matters most, encourage them to make positive choices, and ultimately reduce knife crime. Since its inception in 2020, No More Knives has reached over 150,000 students nationwide.
The Brentford event moved beyond a typical lecture format, utilising a dynamic mix of music, compelling real-life stories, and video content. This interactive approach was designed to resonate with the students, encouraging them to think critically about the serious consequences of knife crime. Professionals in the field shared their experiences, highlighting the ripple effect that a single bad decision can have on individuals, families, and the entire community.
“As a school, we are deeply committed to making sure our students know how to stay safe and look after each other,” said Maya Williams, BSfG Head of Health and Social Care. “Empowering our girls to make confident, positive choices is at the heart of everything we do.”
‘‘By hosting the ‘No More Knives’ Tour, we are providing our girls with the tools and confidence they need to navigate complex situations safely. We want to empower them to be leaders in fostering a more positive and secure community for everyone’’
The programme’s impact was evident among the students, who were actively engaged throughout the day. One student shared, “It was really engaging and relevant. I think it’s so helpful for us to learn how important our choices are. Plus, there was loads of fun mixed in, which made the serious message easier to take in.”
The sessions provided a safe space for them to discuss a difficult topic and understand the importance of making choices that lead to a brighter future.
By bringing in expert-led programmes like the ‘No More Knives’ Tour, Brentford School for Girls is reinforcing its dedication to creating a supportive and safe learning environment. This initiative is a clear signal to parents and the wider community that the school is taking a firm and preventative stance on youth safety, ensuring its students are not only educated but also empowered.
