Brentford Sixth Form has announced an exciting new partnership with Stir It Up, a mission-driven Community Interest Company founded by Jacquie McBeth, to empower students with the knowledge and tools to make healthier lifestyle choices. This groundbreaking initiative brings together hands-on learning, practical strategies, and a focus on good nutrition for life to inspire a new generation to take charge of their health.
Founded in 2018, Stir It Up was born from Jacquie’s passion for helping families prepare nutritious, affordable meals. Inspired by her personal journey of tackling mealtime challenges with a picky eater, Jacquie left a decade-long sales career to create a social enterprise that puts people and the planet first. Stir It Up reinvests in local communities through food donations and impactful school talks, earning the Hounslow Community Award for Best Social Enterprise in 2021.
A movement for healthier futures
This initiative at Brentford Sixth Form goes far beyond traditional classroom lessons. Through interactive sessions, students will learn about the importance of balanced meals, sustainable habits, and practical ways to make healthy eating simple and affordable. Each week, students will dive into focus areas that address real-world challenges, such as preparing nutritious meals on a budget, while exploring how small changes can lead to big results.
Participants will leave armed with easy-to-follow recipes, budget-friendly shopping tips, and a better understanding of how good nutrition impacts energy, focus, and overall wellbeing.
Engaging the student community
Student engagement is at the heart of the programme. Participants are encouraged to share their favorite recipes, successes, and challenges, creating a collaborative and supportive environment. These stories will be featured on social media and other platforms, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the program is transforming lives.
The initiative will also measure success through tangible outcomes, such as students trying new recipes at home, making healthier lunch choices, and building confidence in their nutrition knowledge.
Empowering through storytelling
Adding a unique dimension to the initiative, Brentford Sixth Form’s press team will document the programme’s journey as part of their work experience, under the guidance of Ms. A Morin, BSfG Marketing/Media Co-ordinator. From social media posts to interviews and articles, the press team will amplify the programme’s impact while gaining valuable skills in storytelling and digital media.
Their work will showcase the students’ progress and growth, highlighting heartfelt stories, participant testimonials, and the initiative’s transformative impact on both individuals and the wider community.
A call to action
“Stir It Up ‘Eat to Thrive’ is more than a programme—it’s a movement to inspire students to take control of their health, be the best version of themselves and empower others to do the same,” said Mrs. G. Agnihotri, Head of Sixth Form at Brentford. “We’re proud to partner with Jacquie and Stir It Up to foster healthier lifestyles and spark meaningful conversations about the value of good nutrition.”
