Brentford School for Girls is proud to announce the successful application for two of its students for support through the BBC Children in Need Emergency Essentials Programme. This initiative is dedicated to assisting children and young people who are facing exceptionally challenging circumstances, ensuring they receive the essential items critical to their wellbeing.
The Emergency Essentials Programme, delivered by Family Fund Business Services, aims to provide children with the most basic necessities needed for a stable and safe environment. Items such as beds, cookers for hot meals, and other essential services are included to help families navigate tough times.
As a registered referrer, Brentford School for Girls Trust plays an integral role in connecting families with the support they need.
The team, led by Angela Stone, the Head of Child Protection Officer at BSfG, is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of families with special needs. They assess the needs of those they serve and ensure that they receive critical items that can truly make a difference.
Angela states, ‘‘Every child deserves a safe and stable environment, and we are dedicated to providing the essential support that can change lives through this programme.’’
The programme offers a range of essential items, including:
- Cookers
- Furniture
- Kitchen equipment and small appliances
- Children’s beds and bedding (including cots)
- Washing machines and tumble dryers
- Fridges, freezers, and fridge-freezers
- Baby equipment
- Emergency clothing.
Together, they can help alleviate some of the burdens faced by the most vulnerable families in the community. Brentford School for Girls invites local supporters and stakeholders to join in this vital work, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive. Brentford School for Girls Trust recognises the importance of collaborating with local partners in order to effectively address the needs of vulnerable families in the community. They say that by working together, we can make a significant impact.
In addition to supporting vulnerable families, Brentford School for Girls actively engages in regular activities to raise funds for various charities. One such initiative is the House Sale, where students participate in organising events to contribute to causes like Médecins Sans Frontières. Other fundraising activities take place throughout the year to support charities identified by the students. These activities not only foster a sense of community but also instil the values of charity and social responsibility in students.
