Located within our mainstream provision, our dedicated autism centre offers a safe, low-arousal space designed to support students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and an autism diagnosis, or on a medical pathway for a diagnosis.

As our understanding of neurodiversity evolves and the demand for specialised support grows, this tailored space provides the essential security and sensory regulation students need to thrive in a mainstream setting, allowing for inclusive access to mainstream lessons,  trips and extracurricular activities.

Key Features

• Specialised & Targeted Teaching: Expert staff and specialist therapists linked to the Centre deliver targeted sessions focused on communication, executive functioning, self-regulation, social skills and other life skills aligned with individual students’ EHCP targets.

• Mainstream Integration: Learning Support Assistants collaborate with teachers to provide dedicated, discreet support within mainstream classrooms. All staff focus on academic success, increasing independence, and building self-esteem for individual students.

• Holistic Professional Care: With a maximum capacity of 12 students across Key Stages 3 and 4, the low student-to-staff ratio enables personalised care from our multi-agency team (Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, and physical disability advisors).

• School-Wide Practice: Actionable strategies developed in the Centre are regularly shared across all teaching and pastoral staff, embedding neurodiversity-affirming practices into the wider school environment. Assemblies across KS3 and 4 and celebrations of Autism Month help to break down misinformation or stigma around autism.

• Peer Community & Well-Being: Students benefit from a strong peer network of like-minded individuals, offering mutual support during both structured sessions and break and lunchtime.

• Transition & Family Partnerships: Comprehensive Year 6 - Year 7 transition support and ongoing, collaborative partnerships ensure families are supported throughout every stage of the educational journey.
