Personal Development

At Brentford School for Girls, we believe that education is about far more than academic success. We are committed to developing confident, resilient and well-rounded young women by providing a rich and varied programme of opportunities beyond the classroom. Our outstanding extracurricular provision is a cornerstone of school life, enabling every student to discover new passions, develop valuable life skills and create memories that last a lifetime. With over 80 clubs running each week, we are proud to offer one of the most extensive extracurricular programmes in the borough, ensuring every student has the opportunity to find activities that inspire and challenge them.

Clubs take place before school, at lunchtime and after school, making it easy for students from Year 7 to Sixth Form to get involved. We believe that every student should take part in at least one club each week, embracing the chance to broaden their horizons, challenge themselves and become active members of our vibrant school community.

Our extensive programme reflects the diverse interests and talents of our students. Whether they are passionate about sport, the arts, leadership, creativity or academic enrichment, there is a club to inspire them. Students can enjoy activities such as Chess Club, the BSFG Law Society, Art, Drama, Origami, basketball, football, fitness and many more. The vast majority of our clubs are free of charge, with no booking required. Students are encouraged to simply come along, try something new and discover where their interests may lead.

Our sporting provision continues to provide students with exciting opportunities to develop their skills, confidence and teamwork. We have been delighted to welcome coaches from Harlequins to deliver rugby sessions, giving students the chance to experience new sports and benefit from specialist coaching. Alongside our extensive range of sports clubs, students are encouraged to lead active, healthy lifestyles and represent the school in a wide variety of competitive fixtures throughout the year.

We are equally committed to ensuring that every student feels confident and supported in accessing our extracurricular offer. Our PE Ambassadors play an important role in encouraging participation, particularly amongst younger students, helping to inspire, motivate and support their peers to become involved in clubs, physical activity and wider school life. Their leadership helps create an inclusive environment where every student feels welcome and valued.

Participation in extracurricular activities enhances wellbeing, builds confidence, develops leadership and teamwork skills, and encourages students to form friendships across year groups. It nurtures curiosity, resilience and independence, qualities that prepare our students not only for academic success but for life beyond school.

At Brentford School for Girls, we want every student to leave with exceptional qualifications, treasured experiences and the confidence to embrace every opportunity that comes their way. Our extracurricular programme is central to this vision, and we encourage every student to make the most of everything our school has to offer by taking part in at least one club each week.
