Leadership opportunities
Student leadership and student voice empower our student body, involving all students in the improvement of our school and contributing to our outstanding community ethos.
Student Leadership at Brentford School for Girls
All students at Brentford School for Girls are encouraged to be leaders in becoming a Brentford Girl, whether that be through showing confidence, being emotionally intelligent, inquisitive or resilient. These are all leadership qualities that they can demonstrate every day in their school life.
In addition, every year group also has specific leadership opportunities:
Our student leaders are actively involved in the life of the school.

There are also some roles outside of this structure, for example Eco-Reps and student librarians, that allow students the opportunity to take on increased responsibility around school.
Student VoiceStudent voice activities happen within department areas, as part of school monitoring, to consider effectiveness and engagement in our school curriculum. We also have a range of activities throughout the year to gather students' opinions and feedback, such as our PASS surveys, student voice questionnaires, Top Table lunches and more. Each term, we also hold a school council process, whereby views and ideas are discussed in tutor time; these are then fed back in a whole school council meeting with a student leader representative from each tutor group in all years. Our whole school council meetings provide a forum for debate and discussion on school matters. This year, we have also joined the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme. Students can be nominated by staff and their peers for a range of reasons, such as:
Winners receive a certificate and a commemorative medal at an award ceremony. They also receive a £300 grant to spend on the school. The school council will support with ideas about how the award money can be spent to best benefit the school community. |
