Brentford School for Girls is preparing for an important evening on Wednesday 19th November, where the achievements of its Year 11 students will be recognised and the extensive opportunities of Brentford’s Sixth Form will be showcased. This event is regarded as a significant occasion for both current students and their families.
The evening’s programme begins at 3:45pm with the Year 11 Recognition and Rewards Event. During this ceremony, the school community will celebrate the hard work, dedication, and successes of Year 11 students. Awards will be presented not only for academic achievement and progress in various subjects, but also for outstanding contributions to the wider school community. Parents are encouraged to attend and share in this proud moment, showing support as students are acknowledged for their efforts. To further enhance the event, hot food and refreshments will be available to all attendees.
Immediately after the awards, the Sixth Form Open Evening will commence. This segment provides parents and prospective sixth formers with the opportunity to meet subject teachers, ask questions, and learn about the varied courses and enrichment activities on offer at Brentford Sixth Form. Staff members will be available to discuss teaching styles, curriculum options, and the many avenues for student success in post-16 education.
Choosing Brentford Sixth Form
Selecting the right sixth form is a pivotal decision for any young person. Brentford Sixth Form takes pride in being a high-achieving, co-educational environment, welcoming ambitious students—girls and boys—from both Brentford and beyond. Whether students have been part of the school community for years or are joining for the first time, Brentford offers new experiences and tailored opportunities.
Brentford Sixth Form is committed to supporting each student as an individual. With a variety of A level and Vocational courses available, students have flexibility in choosing the subjects that best fit their needs and interests. Specialist subject teachers ensure targeted support, and small class sizes create opportunities for personalised learning.
The sixth form fosters a friendly and aspirational community. Students consistently make remarkable progress during their time at Brentford and frequently progress to top universities, including Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions, or secure competitive apprenticeships and high-quality employment opportunities. Recent graduates have gone on to study a breadth of subjects—law, engineering, midwifery, biomedical science, business management, fashion design, and psychology—at notable institutions such as King’s College London, Oxford, Queen Mary, and Loughborough. As one Year 13 leaver expressed, ‘‘Brentford provided the support and guidance needed to reach my full potential and secure a place at my first-choice university.’’
The school’s exceptional results and diverse university destinations highlight its dedication to quality teaching and individual care. In the words of a staff member, the school is ‘incredibly proud of our students’ achievements and the wide variety of university destinations and courses they go on to pursue. Last year, students progressed to Russell Group and top-third universities, secured competitive apprenticeships, and embarked on specialist routes such as medicine, law, and engineering’.
The focus at Brentford is broader than academic outcomes alone; students are encouraged to develop skills and experiences valued by universities and future employers, opening doors to multiple career pathways.
Brentford Sixth Form is also known for its outstanding pastoral care. Supportive staff and small tutor groups guide students through the challenges of post-16 education, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed and cared for. Enrichment opportunities abound, from clubs and societies to career networking with local employers, universities, and a vibrant alumni network.
Students enjoy learning in an inclusive and welcoming environment, where every individual is valued and motivated to reach their academic, social, and personal potential. As stated in a recent Ofsted report, ‘‘Students not only thrive and achieve exceptional examination results, the individual is looked after as a whole.’’
To accommodate this special event, Brentford School for Girls has arranged a later start for Year 11 students on 19th November; the school day will begin at 10:00am.
