UCAS and Oxbridge Applications

UCAS Support in the 6th Form

Every year, our Year 13 leavers, secure places at a host of different universities, studying a variety of courses, ranging from Archaeology to Zoology, Medicine to Engineering. Preparing students for the university application process (UCAS) starts in year 12, and students are given the following guidance and support through the entire process:

  • Information and guidance about Open Days, Taster Courses and Summer Schools
  • Range of talks from University staff on Writing a Personal statement, Life at University and Student Finance
  • Support from form tutors and dedicated tutor time for university application process and writing a personal statement
  • Drop-in advice and guidance available from qualified careers specialist
  • In-school HE and Careers fair – attended by a range of local universities from London and the Home counties
  • UCAS HE Convention – attended by a large number of universities (including Russell Group universities)

The Head of 6th Form is responsible for all UCAS applications

Oxbridge Applicants and students applying for Medicine or Dentistry

There is specialised help for those students making ‘Early’ applications i.e. students applying for Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science and those applying to Oxford or Cambridge universities. This includes:

  • Personal statement feedback from curriculum specialist 
  • Encouragement and support with applications to external,  ‘super-curricular’ opportunities
  • Interview preparation and mock interview, from Oxbridge graduates (where available)
