Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a challenging programme of activities which will help you learn new skills, help others and experience adventure and it will give you a great sense of achievement. What's more, many organisations such as employers, colleges and universities take a good view of the Award and what it says about the person who has achieved it.

The Award is set up at Brentford School for Girls for students in Year 9, 10 and 12 starting their awards in January and the students have the year to complete the award.

The award is made up of 4 sections: Volunteering, Skills, Physical and the Expedition.

We currently run the Bronze award and occasionally run the Silver award depending on numbers.

Pupils: if you're keen to show a dedication to your interests and gain accreditation for doing so then consider enrolling on the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. All you need is the willingness to have a go. Enrolment begins before the October half term so if this is something you are interested in please go and speak to Miss Giddens in PE.

By participating in the award you will gain self-belief and confidence. You'll develop your sense of identity and become more independent and responsible. You will gain an awareness of your potential and talents as well as an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, you will develop the ability to plan and use time effectively and learn from and give to others in the community. You'll form new relationships and develop your ability to lead and work as part of a team.

On successful completion, you will be presented with a badge and a certificate.
