Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a challenging programme of activities which will help you learn new skills, help others and experience adventure and it will give you a great sense of achievement. What's more, many organisations such as employers, colleges and universities take a good view of the Award and what it says about the person who has achieved it.

The Award was set up at Brentford School for Girls for students in Year 10 and 11.

Students have been working hard on their skills, service and physical recreation sections and are starting their expedition training this week.

Pupils: if you're keen to show a dedication to your interests and gain accreditation for doing so then consider enrolling on the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. All you need is the willingness to have a go.

By participating in the award you will gain self-belief and confidence. You'll develop your sense of identity and become more independent and responsible. You will gain an awareness of your potential and talents as well as an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, you will develop the ability to plan and use time effectively and learn from and give to others in the community. You'll form new relationships and develop your ability to lead and work as part of a team.

On successful completion, you will be presented with a badge and a certificate and at Gold level you are invited to a Presentation Ceremony.
