Lion King, is the fourth show that Brentford School for Girls Head of Drama has had the pleasure of leading.

Each year she challenges herself on how she can improve on on the previous year’s production. This year has definitely surpassed last year with an incredible cast of 100 Brentford students and 30 Worple Primary students all performing on stage.

A group of Year 9 students have made a significant contribution to the pop and costume making which contributed to  part of the ‘arts award’! These students have worked tirelessly to create the costumes and props you will have hopefully had the chance to see during the performances.

A big thank you to Ms Partington and Maariyah who were vital in keeping the show on schedule. Maariyah, a former Brentford School for Girls student, showed endless positivity and exceptional problem solving skills in the support she provided to the school production. All whilst still managing complete a university degree!

Critical to the shows success was also the amazing art department. Ms Vincent spent many a late night creating the wonderful animals and set design. Ms Storer, Ms Jenkins, Ms Pyke and Ms Johnson created the wonderful and visually striking masks that helped to bring the characters to life. Whilst Ms Welsh and Ms Green beavered away on the sewing machines creating the vibrant and dynamic costumes. The students here at Brentford are so lucky to have such talented, inspiring and creative role models.

To the parents and carers, thank you for supporting the girls in learning lines, attending rehearsals and practising their dances.

A final thank you must go to the girls. With students who are so passionate about the arts, it is an honour to provide them with a platform to grow in confidence and show the community how talented they are. Girls it has been a pleasure, enjoy this moment, as these memories will last a lifetime.
