The Challenge

Year 11 students have been given the opportunity to participate in an exciting programme after their GCSE examinations.

‘The Challenge’ is a charity that provides personal and physical challenges such as taking part in rock-climbing, canoeing and other outdoor pursuits; social challenges, such as living on a university campus with other young people whilst developing a project in drama, business enterprise, media, photography or sport. The final challenge is to use the skills developed in the previous challenges to complete a community-based project in the local area.

The programme helps students to develop crucial skills such as self-confidence, organisation, planning and cooperation. These skills sit well alongside academic qualifications, making students more attractive to university recruiters and employers.

The programme costs £50 but we are prepared to make a contribution towards this charge and in some cases, participating students may be fully subsidised.

A letter has been sent out to Year 11 parents and carers explaining the programme further. Should you have any queries about the information in the letter, please contact me at school.

Thank you
