Dear Parent / Carer

As part of our programme for Careers we look forward to welcoming you to the Post-16 Information Evening on the 1st December, from 6.00 pm until 7:30 pm in the main school hall. During the evening, you will have the opportunity to speak to our specialist subject teachers regarding Post -16 subjects and courses. In addition, you will be able to speak to our current Sixth Form students about life in our Sixth Form and why they made the right choice by returning here.

Our recent Ofsted report was pleasing, with the following comments being made by the inspection team regarding the Sixth Form:

• Students’ progress is good
• Good teaching enables students to learn effectively
• High quality care, support and guidance
• Teachers place a very strong focus on developing key skills necessary for examination success
• The curriculum choice is wide and covers academic and vocational courses at level 2 and level 3
• Ambitious plans and high expectations are shared and welcomed by the staff and students
• Key life skills, such as independence, reliability and time management, are reflected for students in the standards set by teachers
• Students feel safe and make a positive contribution to the school

The evening will also provide an opportunity for you to gather specialist careers advice from our School Connexions Adviser. In the lead up to your daughters’ application to our Sixth Form, we are carrying out a number of activities to enlighten your daughter about her choices, including the following:

• November - December  Weekly Year Assemblies
• Week beginning 28^th November  Subject Presentations: During Tutor time (Led by current Year 12 students)
• 1^st  December  Open Evening for all Year 11 students and Parents.
• 9^th December Closing date for Brentford Sixth Form applications (Internal and External)
• 13^th, 16^th  & 17^th January Year 11 – Post 16 interviews 
• 6^th February Offers made to those students who have been awarded a place 
• 28^th March Year 12 UCAS Conference (by invitation only)
