We at Brentford are fully committed to effective home-school communication and working in partnership with parents. We consult regularly with parents on key issues via questionnaires and information mornings and evenings. Additionally, key school policies may be explained in the forum and further shaped through parental input.
There have been a number of parents’ evenings and information evenings to help advise you and your daughter on current matters such as transition. Later on this term there will be an options information evening for parents of Year 9 students. Please investigate links on the website to sites we think are beneficial to you and your daughter. A particularly useful link is the new Hounslow Families Directory website, a useful source of information (Put link in here).
We offer a wide variety of opportunities for parents and families to feel part of school life and the school community. One way in which we have done this is through home-school communication: the Brentford Bulletin is sent home to parents on a regular basis (PUT LINK IN HERE). There is also the end-of-term Highlights magazine, with information about what the students and school community have been involved in. Please click on the link here to see the latest Highlights magazine (put a link in here to the highlights magazine).
Do contact us if you have any queries or questions. Your daughter’s form tutor is always very happy to hear from you as a first point of contact but do not hesitate to contact other members of staff depending upon the nature of your query. Please do look out for family events happening throughout the term, not just here at the school, but Borough-wide- we often advertise events that you may find interesting and, of course, fun.
Dates for your diary: Year 7 Parents’ Workshop Thursday 7th February - look out for a letter in the coming days.
Year 9 Options Information Evening Thursday 7th March.
Coffee Morning
On Friday 24th February, we hosted a coffee morning for parents and carers of Brentford students. It was very well attended and parents were able to join staff in a relaxed setting to discuss issues affecting their daughters’ education, as well as wider school matters. Several points were raised and some interesting ideas were generated. These ideas have been discussed by the leadership team and will, in many cases, be implemented- watch this space!
Our next coffee morning will take place on Friday 23rd March and it would be fantastic to see as many parents as possible attend. We do hope you can join us.
Parents’ Forum
Following on from feedback in our recent parental questionnaire, and as part of BSFG’s on-going commitment to effective home-school communication, it is our intention to establish a parents’ forum. A parents’ forum is a meeting where parents and staff may come together to discuss specific school matters. For example, teaching and learning in the classroom may be discussed, or homework and extra-curricular activities.
Additionally, key school policies may be explained in the forum and further shaped through parental input. The parents’ forum will be an invaluable platform for the sharing of ideas and viewpoints and it has the potential to impact positively on all members of the school community. Please look out for a letter that your daughter will bring home explaining details of the parents’ forum further. In the meantime, should you require further information, then please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
