Community Links

Brentford School for Girls prides itself on being at the heart of the local community and we work with a number of local primary schools on a variety of projects including radio and art. We contribute to local events whenever possible. Recently these have included the Brentford is Brilliant marketing campaign and the British Legion’s anniversary celebrations. Some of our students have completed projects in partnership with the Royal Opera House and were involved in the Brentford leg of the London 2012 torch relay.

Further afield, we have links with schools across the world, most notably Kayonza Secondary Modern School in Rwanda. Our Rwandan colleagues visited us recently and a group of sixth formers will travel to Rwanda later on this year to see joint projects that have taken place between our schools in action. Teachers from Brentford have visited schools in countries as far afield as Australia, Sweden and Slovakia in order to share teaching ideas and learn from one another. We host frequent visitors from countries including China, Denmark and Malaysia.

Our current project will give students from Brentford the opportunity to participate in an exchange programme with students from France and Sweden. Our partner schools are visiting Brentford in January 2013 and will work together with our students on an anti-xenophobia project.

Our international work enriches the outlook of our students and contributed to our being awarded the prestigious International School Award in 2011.
