For many years, Brentford has benefited from being part of a 6th Form consortium with other local schools. All 6th Forms in the borough share a common timetable structure and we can negotiate places for our students at any one or more of these schools. Currently we have students studying A Levels in a number of Hounslow schools. Many courses are offered through this partnership, in addition to those available at Brentford. This means that most option choices can be accommodated.
There are a number of advantages of working with other schools. Students have the opportunity to experience teaching in a new environment whilst still remaining part of the school they are most familiar with. They continue to have the benefit of support from the 6th Form team here and their progress in the partner school is closely monitored. Students have the chance to meet and mix with other students and experience greater independence. Taking a subject in another school can often be a useful half-way stage before going to university.
Students taking up places at consortium schools must be prepared to travel between schools during the day. Good organisation and time management is therefore very important. Students really value the experience and enjoy the chance to meet new people!
